Tend

Connect your AI assistant

Let Claude, ChatGPT, Muse or another assistant work in Tend as you. You sign in to Tend and approve it once. No API key to copy.

Quick facts for AI tools

  • Name: Tend HQ
  • Connector address (MCP server URL): https://tendhq.io/mcp
  • Type: remote MCP server over HTTP (streamable HTTP).
  • Sign-in: OAuth with the person's own Tend account, then an Approve screen. No API key or token.
  • The assistant discovers Tend's tools itself after connecting. No other documentation is needed.
  • Access: only what that leader can already see in Tend.

Connect, step by step

ChatGPT

  1. Open ChatGPT settings → Apps → Advanced and turn on Developer mode. If you can't, ask your ChatGPT admin.
  2. Open the New plugin dialog.
  3. Enter the name "Tend HQ" and paste the connection address.
  4. Check "I understand and want to continue" (ChatGPT shows this for every custom connector), then click Create.
  5. Sign in to Tend and tap Approve.
  6. Turn the app on from the chat box, then ask ChatGPT to use Tend.

Claude

  1. Open Claude's add connector form — the name and address are filled in.
  2. Check the details and click Add.
  3. If the form doesn't open: go to Claude's Connectors page, choose "Add custom connector", name it "Tend HQ" and paste the address.
  4. Sign in to Tend and tap Approve.
  5. Turn the connector on from the chat box, then ask Claude to use Tend.

Claude Code

claude mcp add --scope user --transport http tend-hq 'https://tendhq.io/mcp'
  2. Start Claude Code, run /mcp, choose tend-hq and sign in to Tend.
  3. Ask Claude Code to use Tend.

Muse and other assistants

  1. Open the assistant's MCP server or custom connector settings.
  2. Add a remote MCP server.
  3. Name it "Tend HQ" and paste the connection address.
  4. When asked, sign in to Tend and tap Approve.
  5. Turn the connection on, then ask the assistant to use Tend.

Assistant can't sign in? Use an access key

Some assistants, like Muse, can't open Tend's sign-in screen. For those, sign in to Tend, go to Manage → AI assistants and tap Generate API key. Connect the assistant to https://tendhq.io/mcp-key and paste the key only into the assistant's secure key field, never into a chat. The key works as you, and you can revoke it there anytime.

What happens when you connect

Your assistant sends you to Tend to sign in, then shows an Approve screen. After that it acts as you and sees only what you can see — your groups, your private notes, never anyone else's.

It can list your whole roster with last contact dates, show who needs attention (no contact in 21+ days), review recent activity and the history of completed and dismissed tends, find people, read summaries, add notes, add and update people, organise households (create, rename, add, remove or change roles), connect family members, and start tends for a person or a whole household, assign, snooze or reschedule them, mark them done and save how they went, and keep dates to remember (birthdays, loss anniversaries, graduations). It never sends messages, overrides consent, or deletes anything. Everything it does is recorded in your activity log.
